....................Zichy Villa on Novosvetska Street 10 once bore the romantic name Martha Villa, which had its reason.
It happened something that was not unusual - Count Zichy fell in love with his children's governess. It was József Zichy, member of extended noble family Zichy and her name was Martha. When Mr. Count's wife died he married Miss Martha, around year 1895 bought eclectic villa on then Erkelova (now Timravy) street and had it registered under woman who was so dear to him. Main entrance to the villa used to be originally from Timravy street, back entrance from Novosvetska street was initially only for servants but after development significant part of attached garden became main entrance. Above it hung inscription Martha-Villa. Count Zichy was already very ill then and soon passed away. From governess Martha she became widow - Mrs. Countess Zichy, even servants called her "Mrs Excellency". Gardener I. Hanzel took care of garden. Mrs Martha lived here with her sister who died March 1945. Soon after her death Mrs Countess too. (Source: FB Bratislava on old photos)
